Instagram will support the ability to create and respond to polls in the comments section, Mark Zuckerberg has revealed on Meta's official Instagram channel.News

Instagram To Introduce Polls In Comments Section

It’s no secret that Instagram’s comments section serves as a hub for various conversations — whether it’s funny memes about the latest trends or more serious topics that need attention. The platform allows users to participate in an ongoing dialogue. It’s important to note that Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Instagram’s parent company Meta, has now announced that the popular social media app will support the ability to create and answer polls in the comments section.

Announcing this via Meta’s official Instagram channel, the CEO stated that Instagram will introduce polls in a future version of the comments section. This development will no doubt benefit people who rely on data measurements – using opposing viewpoints in conversations to gain more insights and engagement.

It also suggests that Instagram is looking to increase post audience retention, especially compared to other competing platforms such as X (formerly Twitter). Notably, X already has support for surveys, but Musk said X will lock down the ability to take surveys without X Premium in March.

It’s not clear when we might see the feature finally roll out to the masses, but it sure makes Instagram’s comments section quite an interesting place.

In related news, Instagram has also announced that users can now add music to their photo carousels. “We’re building a music launch for feed photos, and anyone can add a song to capture the mood and bring their carousel to life,” Instagram said.
